A mechanical watch contains on average 150 separate, moving parts. Parts can wear and sometimes fail, lubricating oils dry out and work less effectively and damage can occur. The movement can also clog up with dirt and grim.  To keep the performance of your watch at its best, it should be regularly serviced: usually every three to five years.
